Bengaluru: The high court quashed the proceedings in an extortion case registered against BJP state unit president BY Vijayendra in relation to the electoral bonds issue.
The complaint was filed by Adarsh R Iyer, a Bengaluru-based RTI activist. Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is also named in the complaint along with the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Justice M Nagaprasanna on Tuesday allowed Vijayendra's petition, on the lines in which a similar petition filed by Vijayendra's predecessor Naleen Kumar Kateel was allowed on Dec 3, with regards to the same complaint.
In Kateel's case, the court held that the complainant is not only alien to the transactions (electoral bonds) but also has no locus to maintain an extortion complaint.
