Akash Deep to Head, plays an on-drive through mid on with one hand off the bat. Two runs taken. Short ball outside off, Head pulls to deep square leg for a single. Full outside off, Carey punches through covers for a couple. 

Siraj to Head, single towards midwicket where Padikkal does brilliantly well to stop it at one. Siraj to Smith, full on the pads, mistimed towards catching midwicket. Four!! Smith steps down the ground and lofts him down the ground for a boundary. WICKET!! Smith is strangled down leg again!

Akash to Marsh. An inside edge to fine leg gets Marsh a single. Head tries to charge down but this one is not full enough to go after, flicks it to fine leg for one. WICKET! Marsh hands a feather to Pant. India is on top here!

Akash Deep replaces Siraj. Back of a length ball to McSweeney jags back in late, almost takes the inside edge. Back of a length down legside, McSweeney leaves it alone. WICKET!! Fuller outside off, doesn’t bounce and takes the lower edge through to the keeper.

IND vs AUS, 3rd Test: Jasprit Bumrah breaks Kapil Dev’s record, becomes leading Indian wicket-taker in Australia

Jasprit Bumrah has 52 wickets in Tests in Australia at an average of 17. His career-best figures of 6/33 also came Down Under during the 2018/19 series.

Siraj to Labuschagne, full outside off, pushed to mid off. Full outside off, left alone by Labuschagne. Full on the stumps, driven to short mid wicket. Jags back in and hits the pad, Siraj appeals but gets no support. Height again. 

McSweeney steps down the ground and defends against Bumrah. Soft hands to defend one to cover for a quick single. Pant concedes a bye on a short ball. 

Siraj to McSweeney, full and swinging away, left alone. Back of a length on off, punched to point. Defended to cover and takes a quick single to keep strike.

Bumrah to McSweeney. Full outside off, swinging away from the right-hander, left alone by McSweeney. Outside off again, McSweeney shoulders arms. Full on the stumps, outside edge trickles through gully for a couple. McSweeney with a close leave, passes very close to the stump. Full on the stumps, defended to square leg.

Jasprit Bumrah to bowl the first over.

Although there has been no confirmation on the start time, the Indian bowlers warming up suggests that we indeed start at 8:10am.

The players had taken an early Lunch and that seems to have worked well. The rain has stopped, the umpires are having an inspection. If all goes well, we could get a start at 8:10am IST.

Another frustrating update from the ground. Live visuals show that it is raining. Not sure how long we have left before the teams agree to a draw. 

There is no rain at the ground but the covers are on as play remains halted due to threat of lightning.

Mark Nicholas on comms informs that there is lightning threat in the area which means the match will have to be stopped. 

The Indian team was on the field and ready to step out but has to return to the dressing room.

Travis Head to bowl now. Akash chips the first delivery over mid off for two runs. He was looking for a full on blow over the fence but has to settle for two runs. WICKET! Akash has been stumped! This one goes on straight and beats Akash. His foot slides out of the crease as he errs in this defensive shot and Carey removes the bails.

Lyon to Akash. Australia has gone up for a review. Akash steps down the track but Lyon pulls his length back. The half-defence ends up hitting the pad and going to short leg. Australia thinks there is glove there too but the Snicko shows no spike. A single past slip on the fifth ball.

Cummins to Akash, one run, punches this through cover point. Cummins pitches on the off-stump line to Bumrah and the ball leaves the right hander, just missing the edge.

Lyon from the other end. Four byes! Bumrah goes for a sweep but the ball spins from the middle stump line and beats the keeper and the leg slip to run all the way to the fence.

Cummins comes around the wicket, pitches on the fourth stump line and angles it into the off stump. Akash defends, gets an edge rolling towards gully. No run.

Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah make their way to the centre. The Australian team seems pretty calm as it proceeds to look for the final wicket. 

Akash will be on strike to Pat Cummins for the final delivery of this over.

Australia has bowled 74.5 overs so far, meaning Inida has just 31 deliveries left before the second new ball comes into play. Akash and Bumrah would want to make the most these 5 overs and swing for glory.

Brisbane has forecasts for heavy rain on Wednesday but for now it looks like we’re set for a timely start to Day 5.

Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah gave something for the Indian fans to cheer on the fourth day as their 10-wicket stand got the side to avoid a follow on. Getting Australia to bat one more time would eat into the time on Day 5 and help India get out with a draw, and have the series level at 1-1 in Melbourne.

For Australia, a win would still not be entirely out of the picture. A lead worth 180-odd and another 100 runs on that would allow it a shot at bowling India out in around 60 overs.
