Jaipur: The 10-year-old kidney patient who was allegedly administered wrong blood type at JK Lon Hospital is improving. The committee constituted by the hospital is investigating the matter and has completed its report, said JK Lon hospital sources on Monday. The investigating committee has gathered statements from resident doctors, patient attendants, staff members and blood bank officials to determine the circumstances leading to the incorrect blood transfusion. However, Dr Kailash Meena, hospital superintendent, has refuted claims about the completion of the investigation report.
The final report will be forwarded to SMS medical college for action against the accused. The young patient's health has shown improvement, according to medical staff. Dr Meena stated, "We have removed ventilator support as he is breathing on his own now with mild oxygen support. He is maintaining a creatinine level in the range of 3-4 milligrams per decilitre (mg/dL), while his haemoglobin is 8 grams per decilitre (g/dL)."
Dr Meena added, "He is taking food orally and talking to his relatives."
The patient, who hails from Kaman in Bharatpur district, received AB+ blood on December 5, despite having O+ blood type. Upon realising the error, the hospital administered O+ blood on December 7.
