Jaipur: Anti-corruption bureau (ACB) Monday arrested a veterinary doctor posted at Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage while he was taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. DG, ACB, Ravi Prakash Meharda said a team led by additional SP Sandeep Saraswat arrested Ranveer Singh, who was posted at animal control branch of JMC-H.
Saraswat said a complainant approached the bureau and stated that Singh was demanding a monthly bribe of Rs 40,000 in return for not seizing his cattle. ACB verified the complaint and found that the accused indeed demanded the sum as a bribe and had already taken Rs 20,000.
JMC-H animal control branch is responsibile for catching stray cattle. "Singh told the complainant that his cattle could be seized as they are let free on the road, and this could also lead to action against the owner," said an ACB official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
