Tumakuru: A man who allegedly posed as home minister G Parameshwara and dashed off a letter with his fake signature to the chief minister's office in Andhra Pradesh, seeking their assistance in getting VVIP passes for the Tirumala temple, has been arrested by Tumakuru police.
The accused is H Maruti, 40, of Yelahanka in Bengaluru. The case was registered by K Naganna, special officer to the home minister, with Tumakuru police on Saturday, and Maruti was arrested on Sunday. He was handed over to judicial custody.
According to Naganna, Maruti not only contacted the AP-CMO but also sent them a forged letter on WhatsApp, asking for the VVIP pass for persons sent by him. Also, the accused took money from the pilgrims.
However, police are yet to investigate whether the AP-CMO facilitated the VVIP passes for pilgrims and from how many persons the accused took the money.
