Ludhiana: Three unidentified miscreants tried to execute a theft at the Pohir village branch of Bank of India. The accused tried to drill a hole in the boundary wall of the bank, but failed. Dehlon police lodged an FIR against three unidentified accused under sections 331 (4) (lurking house trespass or house breaking), 305 (theft), 62 (punishment for attempting to commit offence) of BNS on the complaint of the bank manager. The complainant, Chanpreet Kaur, 34, a resident of New Janta Nagar, ATI Road said that she works as manager at the Pohir village branch of Bank of India. On Sunday, she received a call from one of the bank employees, saying that village residents informed him about damage to the boundary wall of the bank. The bank employee informed the police. CCTV camera footage captured three men trying to break through the boundary wall. Sub-inspector Pardeep Singh from Dehlon police station said that a case has been filed and police are trying to trace the accused.

A government peon in Bhopal, B.D. Namdev, was arrested for allegedly masterminding a Rs 10 crore embezzlement scheme. Namdev, along with five accomplices including a bank manager, forged documents and diverted funds from the Madhya Pradesh State Seed Certification Agency. The group purchased land worth Rs 8 crore, intending to claim government subsidies. Police have recovered Rs 8.
