Hyderabad: Telangana high court on Monday refused to quash a 2017 FIR against IT minister D Sridhar Babu who was charged with disrupting a public hearing on Kaleswaram irrigation project at Raghavapuram in Peddapalli district.
While dismissing the plea of Sridhar Babu, Justice K Lakshman, however, exempted him from regular court appearances before the legislators' special court in Hyderabad, which is currently trying the case.
Basanth Nagar police in Peddapalli district registered the FIR on Aug 23, 2017, against Congress leader Sridhar Babu and 13 others for raising slogans against the then CM and throwing chairs at the podium.
Sridhar Babu challenged this before the trial court and upon facing a rejection there, moved the high court. He contended that the FIR did not contain any material that made out any case against them. He said they did not go up to the podium to disturb the officials.
The judge, while dismissing his plea, said that these issues will have to be ascertained by the trial court.
