Police respond to Sacramento elementary school stabbing

(FOX40.COM) — Emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing at an elementary school in Sacramento around noon.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, an officer found one victim with at least one stab wound at Bret Harte Elementary School.

Officials said the victim sustained nonlife-threatening injuries and has been transported to a local hospital for their injuries.

As of 12:50 p.m., the school has not gone on a lockdown, said police.

According to a spokesperson from Sacramento City Unified School District the following message went out to the families of all students.

“We want to make you aware of an urgent safety situation at Bret Harte today. A student attacked another student in the classroom. The parents of the students involved are aware and all other students are safe. Law enforcement is at the scene. We will keep you updated on the situation.”

Police said the suspect remained at the scene and are still investigating what happened.
