Rajkot: A 32-year-old woman filed a complaint at Taluka Police Station, accusing a married man of raping her multiple times over two years under the false promise of marriage and duping her of Rs 5 lakh.
The complainant, who moved to Rajkot from Devbhoomi Dwarka seven years ago, told police that she met the man via Instagram in 2022, and they developed a romantic relationship. Despite being married, the man allegedly promised to divorce his wife and marry her.
She further alleged that he persuaded her to stay at his flat during the supposed divorce proceedings. During this period, she transferred Rs 5 lakh to him via Google Pay, believing it was for a property purchase.
The relationship soured when his family discovered the affair. Over time, the man distanced himself, and three months ago, his family members evicted the woman from the flat, effectively ending the relationship.
The police have registered the complaint, and further investigation is underway.
