GRAP-IV implemented in Delhi-NCR as AQI breaches 400 again

Taking seriously the rising air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region, the fourth phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented. According to the data, Delhi’s average AQI was recorded at 399 on Monday night, which crossed 400 at 10 pm. Due to bad weather, the pollution level was further increased.
The GRAP sub-committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) reacted quickly to the situation and called an emergency meeting and decided that GRAP-IV will be implemented immediately across the NCR. Several strict restrictions will be implemented under this plan, including a complete ban on construction work, prevention of polluting activities in industries, and strict rules on the operation of diesel vehicles.
Strict rules implemented under GRAP-IV
Ban on movement of trucks: A complete ban has been imposed on the movement of all types of trucks, only trucks associated with essential services will be exempted.
Ban on construction work: All types of construction and demolition activities, including development projects, have been banned.
Classes in schools: All schools from nursery to fifth standard have been directed to conduct classes in hybrid (online and physical) mode, so that young children can be protected from the effects of pollution.
Capacity of government offices: Government offices will work at 50% capacity and work from home can be arranged for employees.
Classes will be conducted in hybrid mode
The order issued by Vedita Reddy, Director, Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi, clarifies that all types of schools, whether government, aided or private, have been directed to conduct classes in hybrid mode for children up to class 5 till further orders.
