A 27-year-old Aiyappa Swami devotee, Charith, was injured in an elephant attack near a stream in Kalmakar village, Sullia, on Tuesday morning. He suffered an external head injury and back pain and was taken to Sullia government hospital before being shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment, including a CT scan and X-ray.
MANGALURU: A person sustained injuries in an elephant attack reported at Kalmakar village in Sullia on Tuesday morning. The victim is Charith, aged around 27 years.
Subrahmanya Range Forest Officer Vimal Babu said that the incident took place around 6.30am to 6.45am.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim, an Aiyappa Swami devotee, had been to a stream for a bath and was reportedly attacked by the elephant.
The injured person was rushed to Sullia govt hospital for primary treatment and then shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
He has an external head injury and is complaining of back pain, RFO said. The doctors have suggested a CT scan, X-ray, and other tests, and the reports are awaited.
