Noida: The sports department has imposed penalties totaling Rs 16 lakh on 27 establishments, including gyms, shooting academies, and swimming pools, for operating without registration. Despite repeated notices issued over the last six months, the violators failed to comply with the department's directives, officials said.
District sports officer Anita Nagar said, "Strict action was necessary as these facilities were running illegally and could compromise safety standards. Establishments were repeatedly warned to register with the sports department, but many ignored the notices."
Penalties of Rs 1 lakh were imposed on establishments operating multiple facilities or high-risk sports, including swimming pools and shooting academies. These include The Gunnery Shooting Academy in Sector 22, Shooting Guru Shooting Academy in Sector 63, Gaurs International School in Greater Noida West, Sapphire International School in Sector 70, Amity University in Sector 125, and Shiv Nadar University in Chithera Dadri.
Establishments with single sports facilities were fined Rs 50,000 each.

Additional establishments penalised include Greater Fitness Zone, Noida Cricket Academy, Bal Utsav Elite Cricket Academy, Infinity School, Salvation The Tree School, and Shri Rashid Gym in Village Kalyan Dadri.
