Ranchi: Ranchi residents are facing severe challenges due to deteriorating road conditions across several major areas of the city. The situation is particularly dire on Bariatu Road near Manyavar Food, where massive potholes have created persistent traffic congestion.
Critical routes including the Kantatoli-Bahubazar stretch and Kantatoli-Kokar road have become hazardous, with large potholes, uneven surfaces, and excessive dust affecting daily commuters. The Tagore Hill Road, currently under sewerage maintenance, has added to citizens' woes.
"The Kantatoli-Bahubazar road's condition is unbearable. The potholes and dust pose serious health risks," says Ravi Bhaskar, a regular commuter.
Rangdesh Gift Shop owner Rakesh Thakur highlights the dangers for two-wheeler riders: "The stretch from Anto Chowk to Ramakrishna Mission temple is treacherous. This 1km section has become a nightmare for riders."
The recent construction of the Kantatoli flyover has significantly impacted nearby roads. In response, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has urged Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (JUIDCO) to accelerate road restoration efforts.
RMC chief engineer Pravin Bhengra says, "Tagore Hill Road will be fully refurbished by year-end. We're working with JUIDCO to restore roads affected by the flyover construction."
JUIDCO's PRO has promised immediate action: "Following our secretary's request for a work plan from the construction company, we'll ensure roads are repaired and made travel-worthy by next week."
The deteriorating road conditions have sparked widespread concern among residents, who eagerly await the promised improvements. While authorities have pledged swift action, citizens continue to navigate these challenging conditions daily, hoping for concrete solutions to their infrastructure woes.
The situation underscores the urgent need for coordinated efforts between various civic bodies to address Ranchi's road infrastructure challenges effectively.
