Bengaluru: BBMP distributed over 13 lakh deworming tablets free of cost from Monday to Thursday as part of its citywide deworming campaign.
BBMP chief health officer (public health) Syed Sirajuddin Madani said the Palike will continue the campaign till Dec 19 and aims to give tablets to about 20 lakh children and adolescents (aged one to 19 years).
"We will cover 1,545 anganwadis and nursery schools, 195 colleges and 1,254 schools in the city. We have appointed one teacher per school to monitor implementation of the campaign," said Madani.
BBMP is providing free tablets to children in govt and aided schools/colleges. Non-aided schools will receive the tablets after getting consent from parents.
BBMP will utilise the services of ASHA workers and others to provide tablets to out-of-school children.
