Aamir Khan recently discussed his dream project, a Mahabharata adaptation, and disclosed that he is afraid he may make a mistake on the important endeavor. He aspires to realize the project someday, but he is uncertain if he will get to work on it.
He recently spoke about the Oscar campaign for his movie Laapataa Ladies in an interview with BBC News.
Khan has frequently stated in his prior media appearances that he would like to work on his ideal project, which is a rendition of the epic Mahabharata for film or television. But he acknowledged that the concept is both thrilling and unsettling.
He said, “Well, that’s my dream project, and it’s a very scary project. So huge, and I am scared of getting it wrong. It’s a huge responsibility because, as Indians, it’s something so close to us; it’s in our blood. So I want to get it right.”
He added, “I want to make every Indian proud. I also want to show the world what India has. I don’t know if it will happen, but it’s something I want to work towards. So let’s see.”
The Dangal star has previously talked about his ideal project. In 2018, author Anjum Rajabali disclosed that Aamir had been considering making a high-profile Mahabharata adaptation. The actor didn’t confirm the rumors, but some publications even said he declined to participate on Rakesh Sharma’s biopic for the same reason.
On the work front, Aamir Khan is working hard with his team to promote Laapataa Ladies (Lost Ladies), which is India’s official Oscar entry for 2025. In addition, Khan will reprise his acting career in the follow-up to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, Sitaare Zameen Par.
