Lucknow: Sultanpur police, in a joint operation with the UP Special Task Force, arrested two active members of an inter-state illegal arms and ammunition trafficking gang on Dec 15 near the Mishrapur Puraena bus stop under Dehat Kotwali police station. Those arrested were identified as Satyam Yadav and Muskan Tiwari.
Police recovered one 7.62 mm pistol, one 0.32 mm pistol, and a mobile phone.
STF ASP Singh said that investigations revealed the gang was led by Shubham Singh, who coordinated the procurement of arms from cities like Amritsar, Meerut, and Agra.
The accused disclosed that the weapons, purchased for Rs 2 lakh from Meerut, were en route to Bihar. The STF had previously arrested gang member Ankit Pandey in Ballia in Nov 2024. A case under the Arms Act has been registered, and further legal proceedings are underway.
