Elon Musk hinted at a potential new email feature on X, possibly called "Xmail," which could rival Gmail. Responding to user suggestions on the platform, Musk confirmed it's on his to-do list.
Elon Musk has teased the possibility of a new email feature on his platform, X, which could potentially rival Google’s Gmail. An X (formerly Twitter) user – Nima Owji @nima_owji wrote “Having an @‌x.‌com email address is the only thing that can stop me from using Gmail!”. Responding to the post, Musk wrote “Interesting. We need to rethink how messaging, including email, works overall.”

Separately, DogeDesigner posted on X calling an “Xmail” service “cool.” Musk, who is known for openly sharing his thoughts on X, responded in the comment section, confirming that the feature is on the his “list of things to do.” He added, “Yeah, on the list of things to do.”
“X Mail would be cool. username@𝕏.com,” said DogeDesigner in X post. Elon Musk replied saying “Yeah. On the list of things to do.”

How X users reacted

This has sparked interest among users, raising questions about how X could further evolve beyond its current focus on social media and integrate more features to compete with established tech giants like Google. If realized, Xmail could bring a new level of integration between social networking and email, making X an even more powerful tool for communication.
Commenting on Musk’s post, one user wrote “Yes, please make this happen ASAP. Sick and tired of the stranglehold google has on everything. Free email like you freed X!”. “I’m looking for a new email account," said another. “Please, address this asap! X email will be 𝕏tra 𝕏ceptional!,” commented a third.
“How about the xPhone? We’re all ready for 1,” commented a fourth. Another user said “woah! can't wait for my x dot com email”.
