Lucknow: Actress Sandhya Mridul shared her journey from a childhood passion for acting to discovering poetry during a session titled ‘Untamed' at the Metaphor Lit Fest on Sunday.
She revealed that while she was always passionate about cinema and focused entirely on acting, it was writing poetry that eventually gave her a deep sense of fulfilment. She credited her inspiration to the works of poets and her brother Pankaj, who himself was a dedicated poet.
Expressing her admiration for poets, Sandhya said, "I have always admired the ability of poets to amalgamate brokenness and vulnerability into words, which resonate with everyone." She spoke about embracing all facets of life—love, heartbreak, self-revelation, and longing—to feel whole and complete.
The actress highlighted the importance of understanding and rationalising emotions, including the contradictions they carry. Encouraging the audience, she urged them to embrace their individuality, let their inner child experience emotions freely, and avoid pretending to be overly mature.
Reflecting on her career, Sandhya said, "I was blessed with glamour and success as an actor, but it didn't give me the fulfilment I sought. Writing poems helped me connect with my true self."
