LUDHIANA: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) officially launched its election campaign for the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation elections. On Sunday, the party's Punjab President Aman Arora announced five major guarantees aimed at transforming Ludhiana into a clean, modern, and well-connected city. Arora assured the people that once AAP comes to power in the municipal corporation, these commitments will be fulfilled on a priority basis.
Addressing a press conference in Ludhiana, Aman Arora highlighted the party's vision to tackle the city's pressing challenges and bring systematic development. "The event saw the participation of senior party leaders, local councilor candidates, and enthusiastic supporters" party said.
In the press conference AAP Punjab working president Amansher Singh Sharry Kalsi, AAP MLAs Daljit Singh Grewal (Bhola), Madan Lal Bagga, Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhhina, Ashok Prashar Pappi, Chairman and state secretary Amandeep Singh Mohie, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Lakhbir Rai and Dr Sunny Ahluwalia were also present.
Aman Arora "emphasised" that the cleaning and restoration of Buddha Dariya will be a top priority in AAP's Municipal Corporation. He stated that the historic river, which has been reduced to a polluted drain, will be completely rejuvenated through a comprehensive cleaning project. "Strict measures will be taken to stop the discharge of untreated sewage and industrial waste into the river" he said. Arora "assured" that with advanced technology and dedicated efforts, Buddha Dariya will be transformed into a clean and thriving water body, restoring its natural beauty and ecological balance for the benefit of Ludhiana’s residents.
Arora said that access to clean drinking water is a basic right, and AAP will ensure 100% clean and uninterrupted drinking water supply across Ludhiana. "New infrastructure will be developed to modernize the water supply system and eliminate any contamination issues, thereby improving the health and well-being of residents," he added.
Recognizing Ludhiana’s rising pollution levels, the party announced the launch of a fleet of electric buses to improve the city’s public transportation. Arora assured that charging stations and dedicated depots will be set up to support the efficient operation of 100 electric buses, making Ludhiana’s transport system both sustainable and eco-friendly.
To "address" Ludhiana’s long-standing issues of waterlogging and poor sewerage management, Aman Arora "promised" 100% coverage of sewerage systems. Advanced drainage infrastructure will be implemented to provide a permanent solution to waterlogging during the monsoons.
Aman Arora "guaranteed" the removal of all waste dumps across Ludhiana, including infamous garbage hotspots. "Drawing inspiration from successful projects elsewhere", Arora assured the transformation of waste dump sites into clean, usable spaces. Comprehensive waste management systems will also be implemented to maintain a garbage-free city.
Traffic congestion remains a major problem for Ludhiana residents and to "address" this, Arora announced the construction of 4 new big and small bus stands and significant upgrades to the city’s key roads. He assured that bottlenecks will be identified, and modern road infrastructure will be developed to ease the movement of traffic across Ludhiana.
Highlighting these guarantees, Aman Arora said, “AAP is committed to bringing systematic, people-centric development to Ludhiana. Each of these guarantees has been carefully planned after consulting with experts and listening to the people’s feedback. We will deliver solutions that have a lasting impact.”
Arora further "assured" the people that these guarantees are not mere election promises but firm commitments. He stated that work on all projects will begin immediately after AAP's mayor assumes office, with a target to achieve most of these within two years.
Arora concluded by saying, “Ludhiana deserves development that is clean, efficient, and sustainable. With the overwhelming support of the people, we are confident that AAP will emerge victorious across the city, and Ludhiana will witness a new era of progress under our leadership.”
