KOLKATA: Water supply will remain suspended from the Palta treatment plant of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) from 9 am on Monday to 6 am on Tuesday to facilitate its repairs, maintenance and overhaul.
The century-old plant caters to the water needs of 65% of the city's population. Other than large parts of the city, supply will be affected in areas of Bidhannagar and South Dum Dum muncipality.
Supply could also be affected in parts of Salt Lake due to the repair work, said Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials.
The BMC has also issued a notice stating that the water supply to Salt Lake and Sector - V could be affected during the same period. This will also affect north and central Kolkata and large parts of south Kolkata.
