Nagpur: The 9th death anniversary of Shivkumari Mishra was solemnly commemorated at Vimlabai Deshmukh Hall, Dhanwate National College. Organized by Matoshree Memorial Oration Committee, the event featured the 8th Memorial Lecture on the theme ‘Mother – The Only Absolute', delivered by Rajlakshmi Tripathi, principal of Government College of Fine Arts, Jabalpur.
Tripathi highlighted the selfless essence of motherhood, describing mothers as the ‘living heaven of human life'. She cited Mishra as a shining example of resilience and devotion, emphasising her role in shaping her son, Dr Vedprakash Mishra, into a prodigious personality.
Krishna Singh, vice-chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha, graced the event as chief guest. He underscored the role of mothers as the first and most impactful teachers, drawing parallels from epics like ‘Ramayana' and ‘Mahabharat'.
Dr Vedprakash Mishra, pro-chancellor of Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education & Research, delivered the presidential address. He described mothers as embodiments of intuitive instinct and selflessness, contrasting their altruism with the calculated motives of others.
The event also featured insights from vice-president of the Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy Priyanka Thakur, who urged preserving the essence of motherhood in changing times.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Hemant Kalmegh, and was attended by dignitaries and a large audience from diverse walks of life.
