Gurgaon: Two youths were arrested for stabbing and bludgeoning their 20-year-old friend to death at Kadipur Industrial Area on Dec 11.
Accused, Dhruv (20) of Ismailpur and Lucky Kumar (21) from Bihar's Siwan, killed their friend, Yash Babu (20) of Heera Nagar, over a verbal spat that took place at a birthday party.
Police were alerted on the morning of Dec 11. When the team reached the spot, they found the body in bushes at an open plot. A cell phone was recovered from the crime scene, and, by dialling the victim's contacts, his identity was ascertained.
"Yash Babu's family members told police that he left home on Thursday evening to meet a friend and did not return. On the complaint of the victim's father, a case was registered against the accused," said Gurgaon police spokesperson Sandeep.
During interrogation, the accused told police that on the night of Dec 10, they had invited Babu to celebrate Dhruv's birthday. Other friends were also present at the party.
"During the party, they consumed liquor, and Yash and two others argued with Lucky over a petty matter, and the trio beat up Lucky. Later, the two friends of Yash left the place. Yash stayed back as he was in a highly intoxicated state. Seeing Yash alone, Lucky sought Dhruv's help to kill him," the accused told police.
"At 4 am on Dec 11, the duo stabbed Yash with a sharp-edged weapon and then bludgeoned him with a brick. They fled from the spot after the murder. Both the accused are currently in police remand," Sector-10 Inspector Ramvir Singh said.
A murder case was registered against the accused under section 103 (1) of the BNS at Sector-10 PS, said police.
