Bengaluru: From addressing problems like health among marginalised communities, last-mile connectivity, garbage and landfills, and so on using technology, these startups have come up with solutions to solve a few pressing issues in the city.
At the ‘Namma Bengaluru Challenge', solutions for Bengaluru's future were organised by UnboxingBLR and WTF Fund. A total of eight people were selected as finalists, and five organisations won a grant of Rs 10 lakh each on Friday. This grant will be used by the organisations to expand their reach and help more people as they pursue the goal of helping the people and building platforms and web applications.
Anahat Foundation, a registered non-profit organisation in the city, focused on enhancing access to primary and preventive healthcare for the urban poor. Building on the idea of holistic community betterment, ‘Let's Be The Change' takes a collaborative approach by working with citizens and the govt to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable society by solving and educating people on garbage segregation.
Addressing the challenges of transparent rides, ‘Nagara Metered Auto' provides a convenient ride-hailing app for Bengaluru's auto-rickshaw commuters, which runs on mandated meters. The ‘Mahila Shakti Electric Auto Program by Namma Yatri' empowers women by simplifying their adoption of driving as a profession through electric vehicle technology and a platform, fostering sustainability in the mobility sector and providing income opportunities.
The ‘Waterbody Rejuvenation Project by Clean Water (Sustainable Water Technologies Pvt. Ltd.)' employs sustainable, nature-based solutions to address the severe pollution affecting the city's water bodies.
Prashanth Prakash, founder of UnboxingBLR, said, "I am hoping that in the future these winners will make some real change at ground level and transform lives."
