Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay and Goshamahal BJP MLA T Raja Singh defended Allu Arjun, saying that his arrest was undemocratic and said police were responsible for the stampede.
"The arrest of actor Allu Arjun, taken directly from his bedroom without the courtesy of allowing him to change, exemplifies a disgraceful level of mismanagement and disrespect. An individual of his prominence, who has elevated Indian cinema on a global scale, warranted far better treatment," Sanjay said.
The minister said the woman's death only highlighted the Congress govt's failure to effectively manage the large crowds at the theatre. Raja Singh said the stampede during the premiere was due to the inefficiency of cops. "Calling Arjun as an accused is not right," he said, adding that the actor's National Award has brought pride to both Telugu states. tnn
