Dumka: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Saturday said that his govt would continue to work towards empowering women, who constitute half the population, to help them cope with rising inflation.
In his first visit here after forming the govt, Soren addressed a gathering at Bhognadih, the birthplace of tribal martyrs Sido, Kanhu, Chand and Bhairav, in his home constituency Barhait in Sahibganj district. Accompanied by his wife and Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren, CM also inaugurated and laid foundations for development projects worth Rs 348 crore for Sahibganj and Pakur districts through online mode. The event was attended by newly elected MLAs from both districts, along with senior officials, including Santhal Pargana commissioner Lalchand Dadel and DIG Sanjeev Kumar.
Soren said, "I had introduced the Maiya Samman Yojna to help women overcome the crisis of the inflation. The number of beneficiaries have touched the 50lakh-mark so far in terms of availing Rs 1,000 per month. This level of financial distribution among women by any state is unprecedented since Independence."
The CM expressed gratitude for the public's support in re-electing the grand alliance, stating this was essential to maintain the development momentum established during his previous term.
"The mineral resources of Jharkhand contribute significantly in running the country's economy but the state is categorised as most poor with maximum number of migratory labourers," Soren said, expressing his commitment to eliminate the state's development challenges.
He announced the forthcoming launch of Sarkar Aapke Dwar programme to implement governance at panchayat and village levels.
"The Jharkhand came into being as a result of four decades of struggle by my father Shibu Soren and many others. I assure you that I won't let your trust break," Soren said.
The CM specifically urged tribal women to discontinue selling hadia (local brewery) in rural markets and roadsides, encouraging them to utilise govt schemes for more respectable income sources.
