Lucknow: With the dip in temperature, LMC is getting ready 2,000 beds at its 60 night shelters (25 permanent and 35 temporary).
These shelters will be furnished with blankets, beds, heaters, snacks and meals. The permanent shelters are being housed in out of use govt buildings and wedding grounds. Temporary shelters consisting of tin shades, tents and trampolines will offer 818 beds. Municipal commissioner Inderjit Singh assured water, blankets, medical kits and ambulances at all shelter locations. "If the weather worsens, more shelters will be opened," he added.
"This initiative aims to provide shelter for daily wage workers, homeless individuals and the underprivileged during the cold spell," Singh said. He said the command centre employees would be monitoring the condition of the shelters.
