Chennai: Four Sri Lankan Tamils, including a woman previously involved in smuggling gold and cigarettes, were booked for picking a quarrel with customs officials who tried to examine them on Monday.
The suspects are Mohammad Arafath, 48, Mohammad Babu, 47, Mohammad Mubarak, 39, and Nilafar Saleem, 52.
Police said the suspects landed at Chennai airport on Dec 8. During questioning by a customs officer, Nilafar, began recording the session on her mobile phone. When the officer attempted to seize the phone, an altercation ensued, resulting in a scratch on Nilafar's face. This led to a scuffle and a case was registered. tnn
