Ahmedabad: The two top floors of the six-storey Salman Avenue building in Jamalpur, allegedly built after furnishing a fake NOC from the ASI, was demolished on Friday morning. The demolition, conducted in the presence of the police, sparked concerns among local politicians who claimed that the civic body had not issued any notice about the demolition.
In a press release, the AMC stated, " The developer built the fifth and sixth floors after furnishing a fake NOC to get the plan approved. The building was repeatedly notified and sealed five times. Despite repeated notices and sealing the building five times, people continued to use it, prompting the demolition. The demolition work will continue in the coming days."
Repeated appeals were made in the legal committee regarding the illegal construction, driving the AMC estate department to take action.
Congress Jamalpur MLA Imran Khedawala expressed concerns about the lack of notification to the building's residents. The AIMIM councillor from the Jamalpur ward also raised objections regarding the legal process.
