Lucknow: Chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on Wednesday assured the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court that vacancies of chairman, vice-chairman and members in the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) would be filled within a month.
At this, the court said that in view of the circumstances, the two existing members, who are going to retire soon, would continue to work until new appointments are made. The court expressed hope that the appointments in question would be made soon.
A bench of Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi passed the order on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by local lawyer Satish Chandra.
In compliance with the previous order of the court, the CS was present in the court through video-conferencing and principal secretary, law, was personally present. Additional advocate general Kuldeep Pati Tripathi told the court that advertisements were issued on June 12 and July 29, 2024, to make these appointments and the appointment process is going on.
Earlier, the court had passed an order on Oct 4 asking the state to make the appointments soon so that the tribunal does not become defunct .
