Ahmedabad: Imagine the shock and sheer heartbreak of your dream car getting stolen. A property broker from Prahladnagar experienced exactly this recently when the Mercedes he had purchased for Rs 50 lakh after much effort, was gone from his apartment's basement parking.
The 39-year-old broker, Mahesh Chunara, 39, who lives in Iris Exotica flats on Corporate Road, on Thursday filed a complaint with Anandnagar police stating that he had last used the luxury car on Dec 3.
The car was in its slot until the midnight of Dec 5, but was gone the next morning, he told police.
Chunara stated in his FIR that he had bought the Mercedes in Dec 2019. He gave Rs 12 lakh as initial payment and had to seek his friend Vishal Gala's help with a bank loan as his documents were insufficient. Vishal provided his wife, Neha Gala's documents, which Chunara submitted and bought the car on EMI, with the loan account in Neha's name. Chunara received the car's delivery on Dec 23, 2019, and was the only one using it.
Last week on Dec 3, Chunara parked the car in his apartment parking and used another car for some days. He stated in the FIR that he last spotted the Mercedes on the midnight of Dec 5. The next morning at 9.30am, when he walked into the parking lot, the car was missing. Chunara and his wife looked around in the area, hoping to find it, but could not.
Anandnagar police have launched an investigation into the case.
