Thiruvananthapuram: The Peace Carnival, a Christmas and New Year celebration organised by the Association of Christian Churches and the Santhigiri Ashram, will commence on Dec 20. The three-day annual carnival will take place at the ashram in Pothencode.
As part of the carnival, a Christmas star lighting ceremony will be held on Dec 20. On Dec 21, a mega carol competition will be held. Choirs from various church groups will perform, and renowned musicians will evaluate the competition. The cake decoration competition will take place on Dec 22 in the research zone auditorium of the ashram.
A Peace Carnival friendship conference will be inaugurated by opposition leader V D Satheesan on the evening of Dec 22. The Christmas celebration will be inaugurated by cutting a cake by former chief minister Oommen Chandy's wife, Mariamma Oommen, and former home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's wife, Vinodini Balakrishnan. The Peace Carnival will conclude with a musical evening by Stephen Devassy.
