Daltonganj: The poor, destitute and the elderly in Palamu, where the minimum temperature plummeted to 9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, will have to wait for another week for complimentary woollen blankets that are distributed under the state’s social security scheme. On Monday, Sameera S, the director of state social security department, requested the DCs of all 24 districts to provide details of blankets to be distributed in their respective districts. 9.2 lakh blankets will be distributed this year. Of them, the highest, 81,297, will be distributed in Ranchi district. Palamu will get 54,115 blankets.
