From the moment the chatter about ‘Pushpa 2’ started there were expectations and anticipations, and now when we look at the performance of the movie at the box office it seems all the hype has been justified. Headlined by Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, ‘Pushpa 2’ was released on December 5, 2024. December 12, marked its first Wednesday after release, and within 7 days the movie has come very close to crossing the Rs 700 crore mark in net India collection.

According to Sacnilk report, the movie on its first Wednesday made Rs 42 crore collection. Released in multiple languages, the collection from Telugu release minted Rs 9 crore, in Hindi it made Rs 30 crore, in Tamil Rs 2 crore, Kannada Rs 0.6 crore and in Malayalam Rs 0.4 crore. So the total collection on day 7 of ‘Pushpa 2’ summed up to Rs 687 core. Again if we look into the language-wise collection of the movie, the total collection from Tamil release is Rs 232.75 crore, Hindi Rs 398.1 crore, Tamil Rs 39 crore, Kannada Rs 5.05 crore, and Malayalam Rs 12.1 crore. Also, the Sacnilk report states that globally the movie has crossed Rs.1000 crore gross.

This brings the total collection so far ₹ 687.31 cr. Though of course, the movie saw a minimal drop of 18.53 percent from Day 6, it maintained a strong grip on the audience, across languages and regions in India.
Again, if you look at the day-wise divide of the movie’s earnings, from day 1 it set the bar high. It so far has surpassed the collections of Prabhas ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’ Also, it is worth noting that Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer has already outdone Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2, which earned nearly Rs 600 crore. Moving forward, trade analysts expect the movie to make and break more records at the box office.
Though the movie is a Telugu drama, it has been seen it has been performing strongly in Hindi. In fact, there have been times when the movie did better in Hindi than in Telugu or any other language. And if we talk about the regions, then after a massive opening weekend and a strong 4-day run, the action drama has outperformed in Mumbai compared to the Andhra and Nizam regions.
‘Pushpa 2’ follows the story of the skillful, aggressive, and sharp sandalwood smuggler Pushpa Raj. Those who have seen the first installment of the movie, know that Pushpa made his place in the syndicate by proving his loyalty towards the trade and by coming up with the best opportunities for the business. He was opposed by many and several tried to kill him on multiple occasions but he stopped at nothing as he lives with the attitude - ‘Jhukega Nahi’
In the film Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna reprise their roles as Pushpa and Srivalli. The movie’s main protagonist is South’s beloved star Bunny but Rashmika’s character too has meat to it. She delivered a very powerful monologue in the movie and talking about the same in a conversation with Pinkvilla the actress said, “When it was time for the scene, we were figuring out the lines as we went by, and suddenly, I had 3-4 pages of just me speaking.”

ETimes gave this drama 3.5 out of 5 stars and described it as a mass entertainer. “Director Sukumar’s brilliance shines through in Pushpa 2: The Rule. He masterfully balances a mass entertainer with a film rich in social commentary, weaving layers of emotion, action, and intrigue into a compelling cinematic experience. Despite the extensive runtime of 3 hours and 20 minutes, the film keeps its audience riveted with a mix of high-octane sequences, character-driven moments, and a poignant emotional arc,” reads our review.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, the movie is getting mixed reviews. While many are lauding the work done by Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, some are saying that the plot of the movie didn’t live up to the expectations. The action sequences, BGM by Devi Sri Prasad, the direction of Sukumar, have garnered a lot of attention and love. "WHAT A MOVIE . PUSHPA 2 is . Madenesss !! Greatness !! The X also witnessed praise from various celebrities as well. One of the latest film personalities to share his praise for the movie is Ram Gopal.
