Patna: A 27-year-old man was killed in celebratory firing during a wedding ceremony in Nalanda's Sare police station area on Wednesday night. The victim, Triloki Kumar Yadav, was a resident of Barhoga village under the Bind police station area.
According to the police, the incident occurred when Yadav went to attend a wedding ceremony at Nerut village in the Sare police station area of Nalanda. The family members alleged that Yadav was deliberately shot. The family also said Yadav had no enmity with anyone. They received information at 3am on Thursday that he died from a gunshot.
"Family members said on Wednesday evening, the wedding procession of Jwala Prasad's son Shankar departed from Barhog village in Bind to Nerut village. Upon reaching Nerut village, the procession was welcomed and celebratory firing began during the garland exchange ceremony. Meanwhile, a bullet struck Yadav in the chest, severely injuring him. He collapsed on the spot. He was quickly taken to a local private hospital for treatment, where the doctor declared him dead," said Sare SHO Dharmesh Kumar Gupta.
The deceased worked as a driver in Sheikhpura district. He was the second among three brothers and was married three years ago.
"The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy at Biharsharif Sadar Hospital. The forensic team has visited the crime spot. Prima facie, the celebratory firing was being done by the groom's side, which led to the accident. We are trying to identify the persons involved in the firing. Further investigation is on in the matter," Gupta added.
