Vadodara: Water supply to western parts of the city on Friday and Saturday will be affected due to work underway on a major water pipeline. The civic body has laid a new line in the area and will be connecting it.
The new line was laid from Harinagar water tank to Subhanpura water tank to strengthen the supply network. The feeder line has already been laid and will need to be connected to the Harinagar water tank.
Water supply in Subhanpura and nearby areas will be affected on Friday after distribution of water in the morning. Work will continue till Saturday evening and a major part of the western areas of the city will be affected.
On Saturday, water supply will be affected in areas served by the Subhanpura, Gayatrinagar and Harinagar water tanks. Supply is expected to return to normal gradually from Saturday evening.
Eastern parts of the city faced water supply issues due to a breach in the pipeline from the Ajwa reservoir to the Panigate water tank. The breach occurred on Monday evening, leading to waterlogging in some areas. VMC officials rushed to the site as water was spewing out of the pipeline at high pressure.
Supply was stopped and work began on the pipeline immediately. Supply was affected on Tuesday and returned to normal from Tuesday evening.
