Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin reached Kochi on Wednesday to participate in the centenary celebration of Vaikom Satyagraha along with Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The celebration will be held on Thursday.
"Arrived in Kerala, the land of vibrant culture, serene beauty, and progressiveness, for the Vaikom Satyagraha centenary celebrations. Each time I come here, I am touched by the warm reception and genuine hospitality of our Dravidian siblings, it truly feels like home,'' Stalin said on X soon after landing in Kochi.
Stalin would be inaugurating the renovated memorial of social reformer E V R Periyar at Vaikom during the centenary celebrations.
Stalin had posted another video on his X handle which explained the Vaikom satyagraha and the fight by Periyar against caste-based discrimination in Vaikom.
"Just think about what our society was like a hundred years ago and where we are now. Tomorrow I will attend the centenary celebrations of the Vaikom struggle that sowed the seeds for these changes,'' he had posted along with the video.
