Surat: A 10-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide, reportedly distressed over his brother's refusal to buy him kite thread.
On Wednesday morning, the boy asked his mother for money to buy kites, and she gave him Rs 10. He then asked his younger to give him the thread to fly the kites, but the latter refused. It is claimed that he was hurt by the refusal.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the miffed boy hanged himself with a shirt at his house in the Kantaaragam area.
The police filed an accidental death report and started an investigation.
Jahangirpura police inspector DG Rabari told TOI: "Looking at the boy's age and the seriousness of the incident, we got the forensic panel postmortem done. The doctor primarily suggested death due to hanging. However, we are investigating all angles."
