Chandigarh: To ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections, the State Election Commission (SEC), Punjab, has deputed 22 IAS officers as election observers. Of these, five officers will oversee elections in five MCs, with one officer in each MC. An SEC official said remaining observers will supervise municipal council/nagar panchayat polls. These observers have been directed to reach allotted districts by 11 am on Dec 12, the last day for filing nominations, to review arrangements and necessary activities pertaining to elections.
