Ghaziabad: The health supervisor of Dasna community health centre, Govind Rautela, was suspended after allegations of misconduct with women colleagues. At least 12 auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) at the centre complained to the chief medical officer (CMO), Dr Akhilesh Mohan, accusing the supervisor of using inappropriate language and exploiting them. An investigation committee was formed to look into the matter.
Confirming the suspension, Mohan said the complainants provided sufficient audio and video evidence to substantiate their claims. "An inquiry committee has been formed, and a detailed investigation is underway. If the allegations are proven true, strict action will follow, including the possibility of termination," Mohan stated.
A female employee at the CHC, who wished to remain anonymous, said, "There have been instances of misbehaviour earlier too. However, this time, the suspension has sent a strong message against misconduct., reinforcing the administration's commitment to maintain ethical standards," said a female employee at the CHC.
The CMO added that statements from two women have been recorded so far regarding the allegations against the CHC Supervisor. However, a chargesheet will be filed based on further investigations.
Rautela was associated with the Dasna CHC for 7-8 years. Female health workers expressed relief over the immediate action but have also called for a thorough and transparent investigation.
"Another supervisor has been appointed at the CHC till further report on the case arrives," said officials.
A CHC worker said the incident highlights workplace harassment in the healthcare sector, especially in the rural and semi-urban areas. "There is an urgent need for robust mechanisms to ensure a safe and respectful working environment for all employees," said the worker.
Officials maintained that the inquiry report is expected to be submitted soon, and its findings will determine the next course of action.
