Udupi: To mark the completion of its decennial celebration, the Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences (GCPAS), will organise an international conference on Saturday, and its alumni meet on Sunday, and a Kendra Sahitya Akademi book release on Monday, along with an Akademi book exhibition.
Prof Varadesh Hiregange, head of GCPAS, told reporters on Thursday, that the GCPAS crossed many milestones and is now holding this three-day event marking the culmination of its decennial activities. The key speakers at the international conference include writer-critic Prof Manu Chakravarthy, writer-director Mahesh Dattani, media academic Buroshiva Dasgupta, Prof Gurbuz Aktas from Turkiye, and Prof Bashabi Fraser, writer-director of the Scottish Centre of Tagore Studies (ScoTs), Edinburgh. Lt Gen (Dr) MD Venkatesh, vice-chancellor of MAHE, will inaugurate the three-day event, and it will be presided over by pro-chancellor HS Ballal at Sarvodaya Hall, MAHE. Apollo University vice-chancellor Dr Vinod Bhat and MAHE pro vice-chancellor Madhu Veeraraghavan will be present, he said.
For the GCPAS Alumni Meet on Sunday, alumni from all parts of India and abroad will assemble. The meet will be inaugurated by MAHE alumni relations director Rohit Singh. Kendra Sahitya Akademi (New Delhi) will conduct its book exhibition from Saturday to Monday, from 10 am to 7 pm every day. There will be a release of the book on Jnanpith awardee (late) Prof UR Ananthamurthy, authored by Prof Manu Chakravarthy and published by Kendra Sahitya Akademi, he added.
