Patna: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained Mohammad Abdul Aleem, son of a poultry vendor, during a search operation in the Bajpatti police station area of Sitamarhi district early Thursday morning. Aleem, suspected of involvement in anti-national activities, was taken from his residence for interrogation.
The operation, which began around 4am, targeted the residence of Liyaqat Ansari, a poultry shop owner, and lasted over two hours, according to police sources. After being detained, Aleem was taken to the Bajpatti police station, where he was questioned by the central probe agency.
Sadar SDPO Ramakrishna and Pupri SDPO Atanu Dutta visited the Bajpatti police station to gather details. "Aleem was questioned as part of the investigation, but no formal arrest has been made yet," Dutta said. "The NIA has seized his cellphone for forensic examination. We have no additional information at this time," he added.
Although the precise reason for the search has not been disclosed, sources said the questioning was related to suspected activities against national interests.
