Erode: A 32-year-old man's body found in a pond behind a Tasmac outlet at Gobichettipalayam here on Wednesday. Police identified the deceased as S Karthik, of Veerachamy Street. He was an engineer.
An investigation officer said Karthik was an alcoholic. "He was married to Tamilvani, 28, for three years. The couple didn't have any children. Hence, Karthik was dejected and abandoned his job as well. On Monday night, he left home to consume alcohol and did not return. His family searched for him, but in vain."
Meanwhile, the residents of Bommanaickenpalayam found Karthik's body in the pond and alerted the Gobichettipalayam police, who sent the body to the nearby govt hospital for autopsy.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
