Budget 2025: Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), is a healthcare scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2018. This initiative aims to provide accessible and affordable healthcare to economically weaker sections of society. This health insurance initiative covers about fifty crore citizens across the country.

The scheme offers a maximum sum insured amount of ₹5 lakh/year, covering most medical treatment costs, medications, diagnostics and pre-hospitalisation expenses.

It offers cashless hospitalisation services through the Ayushman health card, which is usable at any empanelled hospital. Recently, the scheme has been expanded to include all senior citizens above 70 years of age, regardless of their socio-economic background, who will also receive health coverage.

How to check Ayushman Bharat Yojana eligibility?

Step 1: Visit the official website of Ayushman Bharat Yojana at https://www.pmjay-gov.in/

Step 2: On the home page, click on the "Am I Eligible" section.

Step 3: Input your mobile number and captcha code on the subsequent page, then click the "Generate OTP" button.

Step 4: Enter the OTP received on your mobile and click the "Verify OTP" button.

Step 5: On the following page, furnish essential information such as name, state and age.

Step 6: Once all details are entered, click the "Submit" button.

How to apply for the Ayushman Bharat health card?

Step 1: Visit the website at https://ayushmanup.in/ or https://setu.pmjay.gov.in/setu/.

Step 2: Scroll down and click on the ‘Register Yourself on SETU’ link under quick links.

Step 3: The link will take you to the National Health Authority’s (NHA) SETU portal.

Step 4: Fill out the form and click on the register button.

Step 5: Complete the KYC process.

Step 6: Wait for approval by the competent authority.

Step 7: Once the card is approved, visit the same portal and click on ‘download Ayushman card.’
