Patna: A team of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (SBPDCL) raided an industrial complex in Maner and a plastic manufacturing unit in Fatuha in Patna district on Wednesday.
A penalty of Rs 9.13 lakh was imposed on the owner of the industrial complex, while the manufacturing unit was fined Rs 7.68 lakh. Additionally, a formal complaint was registered at the Maner and Nadi police stations, respectively.
Azad Kumar Singh, assessment officer-cum-assistant electrical engineer, electricity supply sub-division Fatuha, said an eight-member team reached the plastic factory at Jethuli around 12.45 pm and found that the consumer, Ankit Kumar, bypassing the meter by connecting a separate three-phase wire set to his nearest LT line in addition to the service wire coming to his premises and consuming electricity for operating the machines.
"Due to power theft, the SBPDCL suffered a revenue loss of Rs 7,68,335," Singh said in his complaint.
In another raid, the team in Maner found that the industrial complex was stealing electricity by bypassing the meter by illegally connecting three separate wires in the service cable. Due to this, SBPDCL suffered a revenue loss of approximately Rs 9,13,284.
Maner SHO Pradeep Kumar said that the application has been received and the police have filed the FIR.
