Hyderabad: A 37-year-old lab technician working on a contract basis in the health department in Nirmal ended his life on Monday.
V Bharat mentioned that he was taking the extreme step as he lost hope of his job being regularised. He noted that as per GO 510 issued in 2018, juniors received more salary while he, being a senior, had to work without any increase in salary.
Bharat had been working in the revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme since 2018. The deceased is survived by his wife and two-year-old son.
In the suicide note he wrote before ending his life at his house in Kamalanagar in Nirmal town, Bharat urged the employees' associations to take up the cause of senior lab technicians like him to get their jobs regularised.
He said though the issue of their regularisation was taken up with the govt and a legal battle was also fought, nothing had worked out in their favour. Bharat said he was disheartened and lost all hope of having a proper permanent job and therefore was taking the extreme step. TNN
