Ajmer: A drone was found inside the state's only high-security jail in Ajmer on Monday. The jail administration registered a case at Civil Lines police station against "unknown persons". Police seized the drone from the spot and began investigating the matter, officials said.
Sources said the drone was found in a remote place within the jail premises in the afternoon. The matter was reported to jail authorities immediately.
"It was found at a place where no movement takes place and the area is isolated," said Parasmal Jangid, jail superintendent.
Sources said there are jammers around the jail which block any communication system, due to which the drone fell on the ground when it could not receive signals.
Officials are worried as hardcore criminals are housed in this jail, prominent among them gangster Anand Pal Singh. Previously, mobile phones were recovered from the jail, and police in Jaipur found that extortion gangs were operating from within the jail.
Civil Lines police are investigating who was operating this drone and for what purpose it was used. "We have called experts to determine the type of drone and the purposes for which such drones are used," said a police official.
