Noida: After a day of ‘satisfactory' air quality, Noida and Greater Noida witnessed a surge in pollution levels with air quality index (AQI) readings of 168 and 133 respectively, in the ‘moderate' category. Neighbouring Ghaziabad's air quality remained ‘moderate' with an AQI of 130.
According to the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), there was a 2-degree dip in the maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR in the last 24 hours. A short spell of rain cleared the air in Noida and Greater Noida on Sunday. However, according to a bulletin of IITM, the air quality is likely to be in the ‘poor' category for the next six days.
On Tuesday, the air monitoring station in Noida's Sector 125 recorded a ‘satisfactory' AQI of 99, while sectors 116 and 62 recorded AQI readings of 178 and 169, in the 'moderate' range. Sector 1 recorded the worst AQI at 233 which falls in the ‘poor' range.
Greater Noida's air monitoring station in Knowledge Park 3 recorded an AQI of 130 while Knowledge Park 5's AQI was 135, both ‘moderate'.
Sanjay Nagar in Ghaziabad recorded the best AQI at 79, while Vasundhara's was 133. The average AQI of Indirapuram was 177, followed by Loni at 128.
