Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has said the party will petition National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) over police excesses against ASHA workers during their protest on Monday. KTR, along with the BRS leaders, visited Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Tuesday, where some injured ASHA workers are undergoing treatment.
ASHA workers held a protest at the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) at Koti on Monday, demanding a fixed salary of 18,000. Police tried to prevent them from holding protests and took them into custody. During the scuffle with the police, some ASHA workers got injured, and some workers alleged that police behaved inappropriately during the protest. "The home department is with chief minister Revanth Reddy, and there is no law and order in the state. The party will complain to the State Women's Commission and also the NHRC about the incident," KTR said.
Meanwhile, BRS announced the party MLAs would boycott the orientation programme for MLAs.
