Jaipur: Cold wave conditions intensified in the state on Monday. Mount Abu in the hills, with a minimum temperature of 4.8 degrees Celsius, and Bhilwara in the plains, with a minimum of 5°C, were the coldest, Met reports said.
Attributing the dip in mercury to active northerly winds and increased humidity levels, the Met office in Jaipur foreceast a further dip in next couple of days. The Met office clarified that "chilly days" have been fewer this year compared to usual, but severe cold wave conditions are likely to be seen from Dec 20 to Jan 10.
People in Jaipur woke up to a shivering morning when a minimum temperature of 10.3°C was recorded. It was followed by the coldest afternoon of the season so far with a maximum temperature of 22°C, almost 4 degrees below normal. However, no fog and mist was present, so air, road and rail traffic was smooth from Jaipur.
"In the next couple of days, Jaipur is likely to witness minimum temperature of or below 9°C," said a Met officer. TNN
