Ludhiana: Ludhiana rural police arrested a drug peddler who had been absconding for the last four years. ASI Gursevak Singh, in-charge, Lohatbaddi police post said that Taranjit Singh of Lohatbaddi had been living in hiding for the past four years. He added that when he came home late on Saturday night, police got information about his arrival and arrested him from the spot at midnight. He said that 60 grams of narcotic powder was recovered from the accused at a checkpost in 2017. He was sent to jail but did not appear in court after coming out on bail. Taranjit was declared a proclaimed offender in 2020.

In a swift operation on Thursday, Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence wing apprehended three drug traffickers in Amritsar. Husanpreet Singh, Karandeep Singha, and Maninder Singh were caught red-handed with 5 kg of heroin and Rs 4.45 lakh in cash. The arrests followed a tip-off about a drone-delivered heroin consignment from Pakistan. Police seized the contraband, cash, and the suspects' two-wheelers.
